About Us

Gilpin Inc. was started in 1937, by brothers Hubert and Forrest Gilpin. Incorporated by Hubert and his son Max in 1960, Gilpin Inc. is currently owned and operated by Forrest's son Paul.

Until the early 1960's, Gilpin Inc. primarily fabricated and installed custom railings in the northeast Indiana area. In the 1960's, Gilpin Inc. made ornamental iron railings widely available at low cost through the innovation of packaged railings, similar to those available today.

Through the years, Gilpin Inc. has manufactured a wide array of products from snow shovels to awnings. These products are no longer part of the product line, as Gilpin has stuck to the main products of fencing and railing.

In 2005, Gilpin Inc. acquired parts of Kingsford Products. This aquisition brought aluminum products to the product line. Aluminum fence and rail products were integrated to make Gilpin a complete supplier of fence and rail products.

Today, Gilpin Inc. manufactures at plants in Decatur, IN and Baltimore, OH. Their products are sold nationwide through various retailers and fence contractors.
